YAMAHA Releases Limited Edition of FAZER, FZ-16 and FZ-S prices & review

7 10 2009

Yamaha Motor India launches the Limited Edition of their naked bikes FZ-S, FZ-16 and Fazer as FZ-S limited Edition, FZ-16 Limited Edition and Fazer limited Edition. Mr. YAMMY has recently did some cosmetic surgery on its highly selling model the ‘FZ’ . we must say the yammy did a good job here ,superb look but nothing good inside .

Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, CEO, Yamaha India Motor Pvt ltd.,  said,  today, Yamaha is offering innovative designs, sporty looks and premium features across models as part of its strategy to give consumers a new thrill in biking. The limited edition of high demand model Fazer & FZ series is in line with this strategy.

the engine specifications of FAZER was similar to that of the FZ16’s and the FZ-s , nothing was changed except the headlamp which features double 34watts halogen lamps and that too was copied from the FAZER FZ6 model that’s been selling in u.s for a long time . FZ6- fazer u.s version has a liquid cooled and fuel injected 4 cylinder touring bike but thats not what we’re going to get in india

I think yamaha wants us to believe that by just changing the headlamp  a bike becomes a tourer instead of adding features a touring bike must posses . by making it a limited edition tunes up the selling score.

now lets move on to the LIMITED EDITION A.K.A Fool’s gold

limited edition series has got white shade in combination of black with all new silver finish alloy wheels and are  Available in special paint scheme with white alloys and a dash of blue, only 3000 models of these special editions bikes would be produced.

LIMITED EDITION fazer fz16

prices for special edition bikes:

FZ-16 special edition model is priced at Rs. 66,500

FZ-S special edition model@ Rs. 68,500

Fazer special edition model Rs. 73,500

(Ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSI pictorial review, price, specs

16 08 2009

Bajaj Auto Ltd.,  has rolled out Pulsar 220 DTSI edition. With it’s launch, Bajaj has also increased the speed  constraint in the india biking segment quite a few notches higher – the Pulsar 220 has now  become the fastest Indian with an amazing top speed of 144km/hr … well this is what bajaj claims but is this bike really worth it ????

read on….

bajaj is awesome since its the first manufacturer that think about the needs of indian bikers but , a good manufacturer can’t  slaughter technological improvements over speed.

pulsar 220 dtsi is primitive and its equivalent to pulsar 150 dtsi in terms of innovation although it has borrowed the 220 DTS-FI  headlamp but that doesn’t means this bike is same as the latter

Removing the fuel injection system+Radiator liquid cooling system  saves  a lot of bucks and gives room to other candy grade electronic/non upgrades that are easier to employ and are cheaper @ 1/10th of injectors cost when compared.  the biggest example was pulsar 150 dtsi ’s 70 paise white led lit handle bar switches. others are as following

  • auto choke
  • clip-on handle bar
  • split seats
  • engine oil cooler
  • fuel and battery charge indicators
  • temperature based ignition mapping system (nothing more than a thermostat tic=cool ,tak=hot)

The speed cum power/performance boost is through 32 venturi (UCAL UCD 32) carburetor which increases the air suction and makes way for a richer air+fuel mixture to enter into engine , bajaj had to improve/resize the air intake port for this.

Changes In The New Model:

  1. Carbureted: the bike comes loaded with Indias biggest 32mm Ucal UCD 32 venturi carburetor in place of the Delphi-supplied throttle body type fuel injection system in the Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi.
  2. Power Output: The power output of the bike has risen from 20 Ps (@8500 rpm) of the DTS-Fi to a whooping 21.04 PS at the same rpm figures.
  3. New Piston: Keeping the cylinder dimensions same at 67 * 62.4 mm, the piston now comes in a new screen printed graphite based Malycote material which helps in reducing friction between the piston and the cylinder walls and also improves upon the engine’s anti-seizure traits.
  4. Oval Pent Roof Combustion Chamber: The bike also gets an oval shaped roof combustion chamber which enables to maximize the charge density of the flame propagation path which ensures maximum combustion even with leaner air-fuel ratios.
  5. Larger Air Cooler: The engine remains air-cooled as in DTS-Fi but needs to maintain a steady cool temperature now gets a larger air-cooler on this bike with 33 percent more cooling area which ensures that the bike runs cool even under high temperatures.
  6. All New Ignition System: The bike also incorporates an all new ignition system with engine temperature sensors built into the cylinder head to aid a rider in a perfect ride without any loss of torque or any flat spots.
  7. All New Auto Choke: With this version Bajaj has to ensure that the user doesn’t suffer from cold starting problems with the bike, now a carbureted version. To counter this possible issue, this bike comes loaded with an auto-choke which enables the bike to start in coldest of environments with ease.
  8. All New Clutch Assembly: The biggest issue with the earlier iterations of the Pulsar series was the lack of clutch responsiveness and the lack of feel from the clutch under slightest of loads. Seems like Bajaj has paid a special attention on this front and the bike sports an all completely enclosed clutch supplied by FCC Riko. The bike has a reported slick and much better feel than the earlier iterations which makes the bike even better to ride.
  9. All New Gearbox Internals: Adding to the new clutch system, Bajaj has ensured that all the known issues are rectified. This gearbox, which is one of the biggest problems for Bajaj, has been overhauled with some major component changes. The bike is reported to slickest Pulsar till date.
  10. All-Black Theme: The bike gets an all-black theme with black alloys, engine, swingarm and forks from other iterations of the same stable and makes the bike look a killer.
  11. Soft Compound Tyres: The bike comes loaded with the R15 reminiscent soft compound tubeless tyres which make the bike a dream to handle while on corners and also makes sure the bike is planted under extreme or harsh braking. The tyres remain the same size with the front being 90/90 * 17 and rear being a meaty 120/80 * 17 which also aids to the overall killer looks of the bike.
  12. New Designed Logo: The bike also gets a metallic protruded Pulsar logo reminiscent to the new Pulsar 180 2009 edition. It also gets a revamped clip-on handle bar along with a redesigned console background.
  13. Catalytic Converter: The bike, now, with the exclusion of Fuel injector, incorporates a catalytic converter to absorb the harmful gases from the exhaust and in turn making sure that the bike meets the soon to be enforced Bharat Stage 4 Pollution Norms.

hey hey !!!      don’t forget bajaj’s mission (highest speed ) – now the carbs and intakes have been modified an more power can now be achieved so to prove  performance they changed the 5th gear ratio to increase the speed …they could’ve have introduced the 6th gear but they did’nt because it would’ve been expensive for them to introduce and the cost of final product would merely increase by 1%

2009-bajaj-pulsar-220-dtsi

bajaj-pulsar-220-dtsi1

by now you might have guessed what’s in Bajaj’s mind but for those who don’t here is the answer

ans:  to delude indian riders to buy the fastest primitive bike on road,

to make them think that they are on top of world while they are still riding this stupid frog  in fog with ‘the fastest indian bike tag’.

considering the Speed vs Capacity ratio yammy’s r15 can touch 140 km/ph with 150cc capacity engine

while Bajju need a Carb fed 220cc giant to break the barrier @ 144km/ph.

quote 1 : ‘Bajju never grows older,he just gets uglier’

qoute 2: ‘god speed CARB FEDS’

YAMAHA FZ 16 pictorial review,price,specs

18 09 2008

Yamaha Motor India Limited is ready to launch Yamaha FZ-16 on Indian roads by mid September 2008! The bike has all the latest technology features that the customer craves for. The stylish yet innovative FZ-16 has macho and muscular looks redefining the 150cc bikes segment. The Yamaha FZ-16 is an urban-cool motorcycle built for great performance and easy-living functionality

price of this bike is kept very competitive and it’ll surely cut the power cords of bajaj’s pulsar and hero honda cbzX,hunk etc cuz the’ve nothing to offer which is as good as this bike if u don’t believe this just go n take a test ride and of cource we can’t question yamaha’s engine performances since they are awesome and for those  who just need wide tyres it has 140/60-R17 .

update_1 : forgot to mention the all digital console that lotta people have been lookin for a long time .. although bajaj XCD has a total digi console but it looks bad and lacks a digital tacho.. also the centre of gravity of this bike is low giving a nice balance on treacherous turns ;)

update_2.1 : things that you wud’nt notice

  1. air cooled engine (no liquid cooling like tat with r15).
  2. 5 speed gearbox (nothing unusual here ).
  3. excessively colorful console.. looks awful.
  4. forgot to mention the all bullshit handle bar !
  5. overall specs are common and not like R15
  6. fragile tank and all other plastic cosmetics… definately not male ;)
  7. No fuel injection.

Update 2.2:

mileage test 1: 49kmpl @ near constant speed of 40 km/hr @ cold engine

the fz ran 24.4 km on measured 500ml of petrol that gives 48.8km mileage on 1litre of petrol

mileage test 2: 44kmpl @ near constant speed of 40 km/hr @ hot engine

fz bein pre run 2 about 30 kms the mileage drop is 4.6km i.e around 22.1 km / half litre

that is bout 44.2 kmpl

Asus P320

8 09 2008

The Asus P320 is the latest Windows Mobile offering by Asus. It is one of the most stylish smartphones ever made by Asus. It is very light weight at just 105 gms. The Asus P320 is amongst the cheapest Windows Mobile smartphones with slightly better hardware specs compared to other smart phones in the same range. But it still is a good buy considering its price.

p320

p320

Pros:

  • Small size
  • Stylish Design
  • Good Build quality
  • Inexpensive

Cons:

  • Low RAM, Processor
  • Bad Camera
  • No 3G
  • No FM radio
  • No A-GPS
the biggest con is slower processor speed since half of the games wont work on a 200mhz mobile processor just like some softwares such as browsers like opera would respond slower with it + VOIP will be affected by this processor but this is what we can best get at this price range .

YAMAHA YZF R15 review,specifications,price,pictures

15 06 2008

UPDATE: i took a ride of this little beast and its totally different from other bikes of the same 150cc category .

first of .. the engine doesnt cry like somebody has squeezed its throat when u take it to near top speed.. honestly i actually didnt took it to that :) .. has got a smooth throttle response + the feel of this bike is completely different and a good handling capability .. u can actually feel the difference when u rev the engine above 10000rpm..

the CONS ..

..i saw in it was its size … like its a baby r1.. now if u compare this with karizma or hunk the r bigger n more heavy … weight is again a factor with r15 just 120kg and hunk, cbz xtreme r more near to 150kg also the rear tire is thin for a bike of this type..road grip is affected by its weight.. another thing is that this bike is priced high .. i think 1 lakh is too much for a bike like this ./.

in spite of the fact that this is 150cc bike .. the mileage sticks to around 30/Lt…that’s kinda bad.. so do we call it a performer .. or just another fuel sucking bike ..

Yamaha has definitely produced a stunner an UNDER 18 RACING BIKE .. ;)

Much awaited Yamaha’s YZF – R15, a 150 cc sports bike is finally out on Indian roads. The bike contains true Yamaha Racing DNA. The bike, Super Sports Yamaha R15 is expected to set all new standards in design and performance in bike Industry of India.Machine, ie. the bike has technology percolated from R1.
