UPDATE: i took a ride of this little beast and its totally different from other bikes of the same 150cc category .
first of .. the engine doesnt cry like somebody has squeezed its throat when u take it to near top speed.. honestly i actually didnt took it to that
.. has got a smooth throttle response + the feel of this bike is completely different and a good handling capability .. u can actually feel the difference when u rev the engine above 10000rpm..
the CONS ..
..i saw in it was its size … like its a baby r1.. now if u compare this with karizma or hunk the r bigger n more heavy … weight is again a factor with r15 just 120kg and hunk, cbz xtreme r more near to 150kg also the rear tire is thin for a bike of this type..road grip is affected by its weight.. another thing is that this bike is priced high .. i think 1 lakh is too much for a bike like this ./.
in spite of the fact that this is 150cc bike .. the mileage sticks to around 30/Lt…that’s kinda bad.. so do we call it a performer .. or just another fuel sucking bike ..

hey dude..!! gr8 going..!! thanks for such a wonderful information through your blog.!!!!
keep going.!!
The R15 bike is good, but the cost factor is very high from other 150cc bike. People not interested for given extra money only for the model. Its price should be inbetween75000 on road price. I thing if the price between 75000 then people 1st choise this bike in 150cc to 200cc sagment.
If disc are two in front so it look’s superb
Well I have a Karizma And Hero Honda is not the firm which gives the sports to the biking but its a real throttling experience of driving 225cc,its worth,Bajaj P-220 stands nowhere, if Yamaha provides the original passion I beleive there should be a high chasis rather than cutting a cost, improve the width of tyres n make a deadly bike….rest all knows the blind faith on Yamaha..
ya dude .. double disks at the front wheel would have been great
The R1 looks r cool, but no one xpects a show of stupidity from yamaha. the price being on a higher side and the cc being just 150, a single disc in front and narrow wheel at the rear makes it sound like a rat bike with a ducati chassis. at this cost, there ought to be atleast 200+ cc .No compromise on performance when it comes to yamaha.
Bike looks good coz of the legendary R1 shape and all. but overall its jus the body. would have been good if the engine was atleast 250cc or sumthin with regards the price people gona pay which is quite high for a 150cc bike. Tyres r quite thin and have no clue whtas gonna happen to the body of the bike when it fells or sumthin which is more likely to happen in our country. also in the long run after like an year or so, if all the plastic panels gonna stay in one place not makin any noise and start to loose. so lets hope for the best. i like the bike over all.
But anyway i really dont wanna disappoint the people wit the stupid flaws that i jus mentioned above. i love the bike myself and very keen to buy one soon. i own karizma R at moment and im quite happy to keep both bikes coz i love the karizma and will always will. so yea.. for people interested in buyin this yamaha i wud say go for it guys.. its gonna be awsome. the only mod ill do wit this bike is puttin broarder tyres thats all.. it dosnt need anythin else. i kno it will affect the pickup a bit but it will add a better look to the bike frm rear.
over all.. its a master piece.
hi r15 is so beautiful and powerful bike in that segment….
i wanna got it……but its price is so much high….
People not interested for given extra money ……. abt 15-25000 extra only for looking yaar….. so plz reduce a bike coast……….people will agressive buy a bike…..i think fz-16 price is good……….
Hey guys… There’s no comparision between R15 n other bikes. R15 is a performance sportsbike whereas Karizma Pulsar Apache etc are more of commuter bikes with oversized body n little heart. Just dont go by cc or cost, i have raced it n it easily beats ur Karizmas n Pulsars hands down. So if u love riding bikes, u will love R15
r 15 is indisdinguishable in its category….dunt compare it vth karizma or p 220/….definitely they both have to loose the race…..r 15 has a superior technoology…diasil cylinder..delta box frame chasis….aluminium piston….so its price has to be highh…………..nd ya 1 more issue,,,,,the rear tyre issue……its as sticky as abything,,,,,gives you ultimate feeleven when riding during the rains…….nd moreover yamaha is a world class sports bikes manufacturer……..nd its engiineers know what tyres should be fitted……so u better dunt wrry about the tyres……go get it…its a sure head turner……….das a promise
Actually in front of r-15 karizma, pulsur 220 bikes are very poor performance bike because r-15 is first bike pass the tunnel test & in banglore 2008 race champianship karizma & pulsur 220 just complete the 3 rounds of race track but R-15 comleted 4 rounds .
[...] the overall specs are common and not like R15 R15 SPECS [...]
superb bike…….
yamaha’s R15 is the best bike for a common man. It’s cost, look, colours are very great. I like this bike.
FZ 16 OR R15 ????
WHICH 1 IS BETTER TO BUY?
I have newly bought R15 bike Their no doubt that Yamaha has definitely produced a stunner an UNDER 18 RACING BIKE.And it is not so heavy has bikes like Pulsar and Karizma. The Status and the riding feel u get from this bike is really great and GOOD.
(a)Thing which i dint like :The R15 bike is good, but the cost factor is very high from other 150cc bike. . Its price should be inbetween90000 on road price.
(b)Tyres r quite thin and have no clue whtas gonna happen to the body of the bike when it fells or sumthin which is more likely to happen in our country.I felt that the Rear tyres are very thin and the road grip is not at all GOOD.
(c) Its a fuel sucking bike ,the mileage sticks to 30-35kms per litre.its really BAD
I like to talk about tyres. of r 15… are there any relation between grip and width of a tyre……
wot kind of grip u alking about.
1) friction ??? not related with the surface area.
2) the angel of gravity cone. YES..
but u cant apply that cone thing to a moving veicle around a bend and calculate ur angle of falling….
as everyone knows the friction of the tyre and road + the speed of the bike makes the stability of it.
different between narrow and wide tyres..
the tyre width should be wider than the crack or track marks of the road, to get ridoff their effect on ur vehicle. if u run on a flawless road the outcome is same.( on stabilty of ur moving bike)
but on off road u should have much wider tyres to get ridoff their effect.
.
the chance of getting fall.
in a running bike its same on a smooth road.
while u braking if ur wheel alingments are bad, the thin tyres cant hold it so they try to fall on other hand a liitle mistake of allignment wider tyre it can handle that problem without any prob.
.
BUT R15 is V . EXPENSIVE . and the brake system is brandless. it consume more fuel coz u ride faster . but it efficent.
more speed more fuel. a global truth.
u can reduce it.
IF U WANNA ROCK UR WORLD ITS YAMAHA MOST SAFEST BIKE I EVER TOUCH.
GOOD LUCK. BUTreduce the price

i would prefer to put a broader tyre at the rear and use a K&N Filter to put some more power in it…. Hope it would help!!!! and also get a HID kit fitted in it!!!!
i totally agree with vik,i dnt own n r 15,but will be buyin 1 soon!
the bike is a masterpiece n the cost is a bit high coz of the technology yamaha has used in the bike.it produces a power of 17 bhp wid an engine of just 150 cc.
liquid cooled engine,diasyl cylinders,aluminium forged piston,rear disc brakes,deltabox frame(the 1 used in R1) n wat not………
yaar wat more do u expect out of a bike???
its a true bikers choice….
a RIDERS choice!!!!
pulsar 220 can beat the lil beast in drag race but nt on long runs and circuit racing.
ZMA is a gud bike but is outdated now….
so guys if u hav money to spend go 4 yamaha r 15,or elz pulsar 220 is the choice!
beleive me,am n member of team XBHP jaipur,n hav been thru lots of articles compairing the 3 bikes…..
r 15 is the clear winner….
YES YAMAHA………
