The new Opera 9.5 mobile is based on the same engine as the Opera 9.5 Desktop browser. It will offer a better user experience and support many latest and popular web standards and technologies.

the gui has been renewed and it works flawlessly with slower ppc s like i have ..works like charm. this is definitely comparable to safari browser that comes with iphone.

although activeX is disabled.

apple’s mobile me doesn’t support mainstream browsers

Apple always surprises me .. one of the recent was that Microsoft’s Internet explorer 7 is not fully supported by mobile me . I suspect not since to get the full benefit of Mobile Me, you have to be willing to move your primary email address to a new @me.com domain. it sounds fishy to me .. or  Internet explorer 7 may not allow all feature so as to get full benefit they ve done it ..

so let’s hope the Internet explorer 8 is supported by it .

Phoenix Lander Finds Ice on Mars

In a breakthrough that likely provides scientists with their best opportunity ever to investigate extraterrestrial life, NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander has apparently spotted liquid ice on Mars.The little patches completely disappearing over the course of a few days is perfect evidence that it’s ice.

but an interesting question arises that this patch can be salt undergoing sublimation.but scientists at NASA are now assured since they have complete soil-layer profile of extended trench,

“By rasping to icy soil, the robotic arm on Phoenix proved it could flatten the layer where soil meets ice, exposing the icy flat surface below the soil. Scientists can now proceed with plans to scoop and scrape samples into Phoenix’s various analytical instruments. Scientists will test samples to determine if some ice in the soil may have been liquid in the past during warmer climate cycles”.






Hildebrand & Wolfmüller.. the first production bike

In 1894, the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller was the first motorcycle that was available for purchase. This is in contrast to Gottlieb Daimler’s Reitwagen of 1885 which actually only served as an experimental application for the engine and was not manufactured in a series let alone developed further.

Technical Specifications of the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller of 1894: Patent of 20 January 1894, No. 78553: 2 Cylinder four-stroke engine, 1488cc, Bore and stoke: 90 x 117mm, Ax. 2.5HP at 240rpm. Weight ax. 60kg and a maximum speed of ax. 40km/h. The Motorbike featured a water-cooled engine and a hollow tube frame, both of which were well advanced for the time. The rear wheel was driven by pistons similar to those in a locomotive, and used heavy rubber bands (one visible in the photograph, horizontal and running low down towards the rear wheel) to provide a return impulse rather than rotational inertia (as of a flywheel).

Only a few hundred examples of this model were ever built. Apart from the high purchase price, technical problems such as the absence of a clutch prevented the bike from becoming a commercial success. The venture ended up as a financial failure for both Wolfmüller and his financial backer, Hildebrand.

UPDATE: i took a ride of this little beast and its totally different from other bikes of the same 150cc category .

first of .. the engine doesnt cry like somebody has squeezed its throat when u take it to near top speed.. honestly i actually didnt took it to that :).. has got a smooth throttle response + the feel of this bike is completely different and a good handling capability .. u can actually feel the difference when u rev the engine above 10000rpm..

the CONS ..

..i saw in it was its size … like its a baby r1.. now if u compare this with karizma or hunk the r bigger n more heavy … weight is again a factor with r15 just 120kg and hunk, cbz xtreme r more near to 150kg also the rear tire is thin for a bike of this type..road grip is affected by its weight.. another thing is that this bike is priced high .. i think 1 lakh is too much for a bike like this ./.

in spite of the fact that this is 150cc bike .. the mileage sticks to around 30/Lt…that’s kinda bad.. so do we call it a performer .. or just another fuel sucking bike ..
